Salim Washington and Khaya Mahlangu live at Centre for Jazz and Popular Music

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music proudly presents Salim Washington and Khaya Mahlangu on Wednesday 7 September 2022 at 18:00.

Professor Salim Washington is a composer, saxophonist, reeds man. He also serves a pedagogy at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and he has recently been an Inaugural International Visiting Professor at Columbia University in New York. 

Khaya Mahlangu, who is fondly known as Bra Khaya is a top-league session artist. This legendary saxophonist also teaches at Wits. He has collaborated with the greats such as Caiphus Semenya, Sibongile Khumalo, and Bra Hugh Masekela to name a few.

Tickets: R100, pensioner tickets are R70 and student tickets are R40

On this performance, Salim Washington and Bra Khaya will be joined by Neil Gonsalves on piano, Philani Ngidi on bass, and Sbu Zondi on drums on the bandstand. Booking needs to be done by 3PM Wednesday, 7 September 2022 at 18:00. Email zamat1@ukzn.ac.za to book.
