SUMMARY:African Music and Dance (AMD) Lunch Hour Concert
DESCRIPTION:Theme: Mhlazane Ngihambel’indlw’emnyama (The day I paid the Black community a visit): The Musical \n\n\n\nUKZN School of Arts\, African Music Project is once again exhilarated to showcase the African Music and Dance (AMD) ensembles in action. This semester’s edition is a musical chronicle of the African Indigenous people’s beliefs\, superstitions and the functionality of their music within daily lives. The repertoire features Amahubo songs\, Maskandi and story-telling\, as well as African dance. The performance skills ensembles are directed by Mr. Mfundiseni Ndwalane (Amahubo ensemble) and Ms. Nozuko Nguqu (Maskandi andIndigenous African Music composition ensembles) featuring Ingoma ensemble by Mr. Thabiso Zondo and Maskandi guitar by Mr. Matshitshi Ngema. \n\n\n\nFor our new audience this will be an introduction\, while it will be a nostalgic moment for those who have been following indigenous African musicians’ performance livelihoods.
